200-2000V Thyristors
This voltage-class thyristor portfolio covers controlled semiconductor devices whose specified blocking ratings lie within the 200–2,000 V range.

Product & engineering
Understand the product.
An SCR uses a regenerative layered silicon structure with anode, cathode and gate connections. A suitable gate current initiates conduction; once the main current establishes the latched state, removing the gate signal does not interrupt it. A TRIAC has two main terminals and a gate, with triggering behaviour dependent on the polarity quadrant. Neither device behaves like a universally gate-turn-off power transistor.
Repetitive forward and reverse blocking voltage, on-state current and surge capability describe different limits. The 2,000 V upper portfolio boundary is supported by power SCR modules and must not be assigned to every TRIAC. Package insulation is also distinct from semiconductor blocking capability. Stud, press-pack, discrete leaded and module formats use different mechanical and thermal interfaces.
Reliable control requires sufficient gate drive during turn-on, appropriate current rise and a circuit that permits commutation. In AC circuits the load current can naturally reach zero; inductive loads complicate the returning voltage and current relationship. Voltage rise, temperature and transient stress affect operation, while on-state loss must be removed through the chosen package and cooling arrangement.
What turns activity into demand
Select the device together with the trigger circuit, load waveform and available commutation path. The rating range is a portfolio classification, not an applied supply voltage or a claim that every package covers every rating. SCR/TRIAC components and semiconductor modules are distinct from complete power controllers. Ordinary gate triggering does not establish gate-controlled turn-off.
The commercial boundary
The rating range is a portfolio classification, not an applied supply voltage or a claim that every package covers every rating. SCR/TRIAC components and semiconductor modules are distinct from complete power controllers. Ordinary gate triggering does not establish gate-controlled turn-off.
