(Guitar) Pick-Up
A guitar pickup converts motion associated with the played instrument into an electrical signal for amplification. Magnetic pickups respond to the interaction of vibrating magnetically responsive strings with a magnetic field and sensing coil. Piezoelectric pickups respond to mechanical strain or pressure transferred through the instrument. These mechanisms require different physical mounting and signal-conditioning arrangements.
