Active Magnetic Bearing
An active magnetic bearing supports a rotor without normal running contact by regulating magnetic forces in response to measured rotor position. Electromagnetic actuators, sensors, a controller and power amplifiers form a closed control loop. The bearing provides controlled support forces; the motor or turbine supplies the rotational torque.
