Digital Microscope
A digital microscope combines optical magnification with an image sensor and electronic display or acquisition path, presenting the specimen as a captured image rather than relying solely on direct eyepiece observation.

Product & engineering
Understand the product.
A digital microscope is a variation of a traditional optical microscope that uses optics and a digital camera to output an image to a monitor, sometimes by means of software running on a computer. A digital microscope often has its own in-built LED light source, and differs from an optical microscope in that there is no provision to observe the sample directly through an eyepiece. Since the image is focussed on the digital circuit the entire system is designed for the monitor image. The optics for the human eye are omitted.
Useful detail depends on optics, illumination and sampling together. Increasing display magnification cannot recover detail the optical system did not resolve. A measurement workflow also needs an appropriate calibration and controlled specimen positioning.
What turns activity into demand
Quality inspection and documentation tasks shape purchases through working distance, specimen access and validated image or measurement requirements.
The commercial boundary
The instrument, camera accessory and image-analysis software can be different transactions; digital imagery does not by itself make a dimensional measurement traceable.
Is more screen magnification always more information?
No. Compare resolved specimen detail and the optical configuration; enlarging existing pixels may only enlarge the same information.
