Expanded polypropylene is a cellular PP material, commonly formed from expanded beads fused into shaped components for cushioning, lightweight structures and repeated-impact applications.

EPP is engineered polypropylene resin, formed into small, closed-cell foam beads. Expanded polypropylene (EPP) was developed in the 1980s. This is particle foam based on polypropylene. As opposed to EPS, EPP is not impregnated with a foaming agent, meaning that subsequent foaming agent-based expansion is not possible.
Bead fusion, cell structure and part geometry also determine compression and energy absorption. Compare repeated-load recovery and the moulded component, not just loose-bead density or an isolated material sample.
What turns activity into demand
Qualified converting processes, finished-part mass and output determine resin requirements. Scrap recovery, filler loading and accepted yield alter virgin polymer purchases, so final-product tonnage is not automatically equal to resin demand.
The commercial boundary
Separate polypropylene resin from compounds, converted parts and the finished equipment. Process and end-use grade labels can overlap; identify the formulation and weight basis before combining volumes.
Does foam density establish impact performance?
