It is used in the production of surfactants and lubricants, usually by way of nonylphenol. Its more branched analogue, tripropylene, is also used in this way.
Currently, there is only Jiangsu Jiafeng Chemical in the world commercial mass production of 1 nonene (other companies’ products are nonene mixtures), it is mainly used for its own production of linear nonylphenol, and it is only sold in China. Therefore, all data in this report contains overall nonene market.
