Air handling unit (AHU), also referred to as air handler, and is a central air conditioning unit that handles the air circulating within the entire HVAC system. It is among the most crucial components to be considered in designing air conditioning system. AHU is an integrated unit comprising various equipment such as fans, filters, air-control dampers, heating/cooling coils and others. The prime purpose behind using AHU is to accumulate and mix the outdoor air with the indoor circulating air.

Coils and filters impose pressure losses in addition to the ducts. Arrangement, access and controls affect performance and maintenance.

Rated airflow must be considered at the required external pressure. Thermal performance also depends on entering air and fluid conditions.

Air handling unit (AHU), also referred to as air handler, and is a central air conditioning unit that handles the air circulating within the entire HVAC system. It is among the most crucial components to be considered in designing air conditioning system. AHU is an integrated unit comprising various equipment such as fans, filters, air-control dampers, heating/cooling coils and others. The prime purpose behind using AHU is to accumulate and mix the outdoor air with the indoor circulating air.

In China, air handling units control main manufactuers include TICA, Daikin Industries, Johnson Controls, Carrier, GREE, etc., totally accounting for about 40% of the market. As for the types of products, it can be divided into below 15000 m3/h, 15000-50000 m3/h and more than 50000 m3/h. The most common product is 15000-50000 m3/h, with a share over 57%. In terms of applications, it is widely used in commercial, industrial and others. The most common application is commercial, with a share about 80%.
