The manufacturing route is centered on acylation chemistry. In industrial practice, the amino acid or its derivative is reacted with a fatty-acid chloride, ester, anhydride, or related acyl donor to form the amide bond, followed by neutralization to produce the final surfactant salt. The downstream process typically includes removal of residual reactants and salts, control of color and odor, adjustment of active content, and conversion into the required commercial form, which may be aqueous solution, paste, powder, or flake.
