The product is typically supplied as a plastic film substrate (most commonly BOPP and BOPET in mainstream graphic lamination lines) combined with a heat-activated resin or adhesive layer, so the film can be laminated directly on thermal laminating equipment without a separate wet adhesive application step. From a manufacturing and technology standpoint, the category is built on film conversion capability, especially extrusion coating and related coating processes used to apply the heat-activated layer onto the base film, with specialized offline coating routes used for higher-performance grades. Industrial product platforms then branch into finish and performance variants such as gloss, matte, anti-scuff, silky/soft-touch, and other functional surfaces for graphic arts and print applications.
