Sodium thiocyanate is a white orthorhombic crystal or powder. The relative density is 1.735g/cm3. Melting point is 287°C. It is easy to deliquesce in the air and produces toxic gas when it meets acid. Easily soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and other solvents. The aqueous solution is neutral. It produces blood-colored iron thiocyanide with iron salt, does not react with ferrous salt, and produces yellow sodium bisulfate with concentrated sulfuric acid, and reacts with cobalt salt to produce dark blue cobalt thiocyanide. The effect of copper salt produces white silver thiocyanide precipitate or black copper thiocyanide precipitate. The product is a high environmental risk product.
Global Sodium Thiocyanate key players include Nouryon, Jiangsu Liaoyuan, Hebei Chengxin, Yinzhidu Environmental, Henan Tianshui Chemical, etc. Global top five manufacturers hold a share about 61%. Asia-Pacific is the largest market, with a share about 36%, followed by North America and Europe, both have a share over 54 percent.
