Point of Use (POU) Purifier refers to a localized water treatment unit installed immediately upstream of the consumption point—such as a laboratory instrument, medical device, manufacturing process inlet, or drinking-water outlet—to deliver final-stage purification tailored to the specific quality requirements at the point of application. A POU purifier typically integrates combination technologies such as activated carbon adsorption, ion exchange, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, UV sterilization, or submicron particulate removal to eliminate residual organics, ions, microorganisms, particulates, and other trace contaminants not fully removed by upstream centralized systems. Its primary purpose is to ensure consistent, specification-compliant water purity (e.g., ASTM/CLSI reagent-grade water for labs, USP water for healthcare, or safety-compliant potable water), reduce contamination risks, and provide process-critical purification where high-quality water must be guaranteed directly at the point of use.
