An organ-on-a-chip (OOC) is a multi-channel 3-D microfluidic cell culture chip that simulates the activities, mechanics and physiological response of entire organs and organ systems, a type of artificial organ. It constitutes the subject matter of significant biomedical engineering research, more precisely in bio-MEMS. The convergence of labs-on-chips (LOCs) and cell biology has permitted the study of human physiology in an organ-specific context, introducing a novel model of in vitro multicellular human organisms. One day, they will perhaps abolish the need for animals in drug development and toxin testing. Organ-on-a-chip technology not only incorporates multiple cell types but also involves engineering aspects, such as the guided spatial confinement of cells or the incorporation of sensors and microfluidic channels.
Global Organ-on-Chip key players include Emulate, TissUse, Hesperos, CN Bio Innovations, Tara Biosystems, etc. Global top five manufacturers hold a share about 55%.
North America is the largest market, with a share about 40%, followed by Europe and Asia-Pacific, both have a share about 50 percent.
In terms of product, Liver-on-a-chip is the largest segment, with a share about 30%. And in terms of application, the largest application is Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Companies, followed by Academic & Research Institutes.
This report quantifies the global Organ-on-Chip market in revenue (US$ million) and, where applicable, sales volume (K Units), using 2025 as the base year and providing annual historical and forecast data for 2021–2032.
It standardizes definitions of types and applications, harmonizes vendor attribution, and presents comparable time series by company, type, application, and region/country, including indicative price bands (US$/K Units) and concentration ratios (CR5/CR10).
The outputs are intended to support strategy development, budgeting, and performance benchmarking for manufacturers, new entrants, channel partners, and investors; the report also reviews technology shifts and notable product introductions relevant to Organ-on-Chip.
This section profiles leading manufacturers, combining 2021–2025 results with a 2026–2032 outlook. It reports revenue, market share, price bands, product and application mix, regional and channel mix, and key developments (M&A, capacity additions, certifications). It also provides global revenue, average price, and—where applicable—sales volume by manufacturer, and calculates CR5/CR10 and rank changes to support comparative benchmarking.
