Optical fiber connector, also known as fiber optic jumper, is the main device for realizing optical fiber cold connection. It consists of Connector Body, Ferrule, Alignment Sleeve/Guide, Piston/Spring Mechanism, Housing, Latching/Pushing Mechanism, etc. Mainly used for the connection of optical fiber lines, the connection between the optical transmitter output port/optical receiver input port and optical fiber, the connection between optical fiber lines and other optical devices, etc. Optical fiber is a long, thin, cylindrical optical fiber made of glass or plastic that is only one-tenth as thin as a human hair. Because optical fibers are so tiny, fiber optic connectors must be manufactured to a precision of 0.1 micron (equivalent to one-hundredth of a human hair). Multi-channel fiber optic connector, also known as MPO fiber optic connector (Multi-fiber push-in connector, MPO for short), is a fiber optic connector composed of multiple optical fibers. Although MPO connectors are defined as array connectors with more than 2 fibers, MPO connectors typically have 8, 12, or 24 fibers and are suitable for common data center and LAN applications. Other fiber counts are also available, such as 32, 48, 60 or even 72 fibers, but these fibers are typically used in dedicated ultra-high-density multi-fiber arrays in large optical switches. You may also see the terms "MTP connector" and "MPO connector" used interchangeably. The term MTP is a registered trademark of MPO connectors offered by US Conec. MTP connectors are fully MPO compliant and are described by US Conec as MPO engineered to tight tolerances for improved performance. For the purposes of this discussion, we will only mention MPO connectors because MTP is considered an MPO connector.
