Hybrid ceramic bearings are rolling element bearings that combine metallic bearing rings with ceramic rolling elements. In most industrial and precision applications, the inner and outer rings are made from bearing steel or stainless steel, while the balls or rollers are made from silicon nitride ceramic. The hybrid structure gives the bearing lower density, higher hardness, higher stiffness, better electrical insulation, lower thermal expansion, and improved resistance to wear, corrosion, and adhesive damage compared with conventional all steel bearings. In market and technical reporting, hybrid ceramic bearings usually refer to ball bearings, angular contact bearings, deep groove bearings, spindle bearings, and other rolling bearings using ceramic rolling elements with steel races. They are used in electric motors, machine tool spindles, aerospace systems, automotive and racing applications, medical equipment, pumps, compressors, turbines, and other high speed or high precision systems where reduced friction, longer service life, and stable performance under demanding operating conditions are required.
