Heavy payload industrial robot is a multi-axis, servo-driven industrial manipulator specifically engineered to handle and move workpieces, tools or fixtures with a rated load in the high-mass range—typically in the order of several tens to several hundreds of kilograms—while maintaining repeatable positioning accuracy and cycle-time performance in continuous operation. It generally adopts a rigid mechanical structure with high-torque joints, reinforced gearboxes and drives, and robust bases or gantry arrangements, and integrates motion control, safety functions and fieldbus interfaces for cell-level automation. In manufacturing environments, heavy payload industrial robots are used for tasks such as body-in-white handling, palletizing of large loads, foundry and forging operations, large-part machining and loading/unloading of heavy components, where their load capacity, reach and stiffness enable automated manipulation of parts that exceed the capability of standard payload robots or manual handling from an ergonomics and safety standpoint.
