Heat-Treated Steel Plate is a flat-rolled steel product that has been subjected, after rolling, to a controlled thermal cycle comprising heating to a specified temperature, holding for a defined period, and cooling at a controlled rate to obtain the required microstructure and mechanical properties. Depending on the steel grade and intended service, the treatment may include normalizing, annealing, quenching and tempering, or stress relieving. Heat treatment is used to control properties such as yield and tensile strength, hardness, toughness, ductility, dimensional stability, and residual stress. The term describes a processing and delivery condition rather than a single steel grade and may apply to carbon, high-strength low-alloy, or alloy steel plates manufactured to specified chemical, mechanical, dimensional, and testing requirements.
