Gaprin is a full-fledged microbiological protein, which is a biomass of inactivated cells of non-pathogenic methanotrophic bacteria and is intended for use as the main functional component of compound feeds and protein-vitamin supplements (BVD). Thanks to it, it is possible to produce complete, balanced compound feeds that ensure the intensive development of animal husbandry, poultry and fish farming. Gaprin contains: crude protein 70-79%. According to its composition, gaprin is a complete protein product with a high content of B vitamins (especially B12), amino acids and microelements, which fully meets the needs of animals of various groups and ages. In addition, in comparison with protein feeds of plant origin (including cereals and legumes, including soybeans), gaprin provides balanced amino acid nutrition for animals, primarily in terms of lysine, serine and methionine. Gaprin was produced from 1985 to 1994 at a pilot plant at the Svetlo-Yarsk BVK plant in the Volgograd region of CIS. Of the 40 thousand tons of haprin produced during the specified period, most of it was exported. However, in 1994 this production was closed. The bioprotein gaprin can also be produced from associated petroleum gas (APG), which is still flared in refineries and oil fields, including offshore oil platforms, as well as from methane from mines, coal seams and from methane biogas from waste processing.
Global Gaprin key players include Unibio, Calysta, Prtotelux, Metanica, Giprobiosyntez, etc. Global top five manufacturers hold a share about 90%. Asia-Pacific is the largest market, with a share about 50%, followed by Europe and North America, both have a share about 38% percent. In terms of product, Feed Grade Gaprin is the largest segment, with a share over 70%. And in terms of Application, the largest level is Animal Feed, followed by Food & Beverages, etc.
