Fluidized bed granulator is a particle processing system that forms granules by fluidizing a powder bed with conditioned air and spraying a binder solution or melt into the moving particles, causing controlled agglomeration and growth while simultaneously removing solvent through convective drying. The process is typically implemented in a top-spray configuration for wet granulation, with atomizing nozzles, an air distributor, and fines retention designed to balance droplet wetting, nucleation, coalescence, and drying so that granule size distribution, density, and flow properties can be tuned to downstream requirements. In pharmaceutical manufacturing it is a core unit operation for oral solid dosage forms, improving blend homogeneity, compressibility, and flow for tableting or capsule filling, and in food and chemical processing it is used for agglomeration and instantization where controlled particle enlargement and moisture management are required within a single enclosed system.
