Fluorocarbon Coatings is the general name for a series of coatings that use fluorine-containing resin as the main film-forming substance. Fluorocarbon coatings refer to synthetic polymer materials containing fluorine atoms on the carbon atoms of the main chain or side chain. The main feature of fluorocarbon coatings is that the resin contains a large number of F—C bonds, with a bond energy of 485KJ/mol, ranking first among all chemical bonds. Under the action of heat and light (including ultraviolet light), the F-C bond is difficult to break, showing super weather resistance and resistance to chemical media corrosion. At the same time, it has outstanding salt spray resistance, excellent chemical resistance, good stain resistance and erosion resistance, and ideal comprehensive performance. Coatings prepared with FEVE fluorocarbon resin as film-forming resin are called FEVE fluorocarbon coatings. FEVE fluorocarbon resin generally belongs to the polyurethane system. In addition to the main monomers fluorine monomer and vinyl ether (or ester) monomer, FEVE fluorocarbon resin also contains vinyl monomers with hydroxyl groups. The free hydroxyl groups on the molecular chain solidify with aliphatic isocyanate to form -NH- CO—bond, from the perspective of curing mechanism, FEVE fluorocarbon resin belongs to the polyurethane type. FEVE fluorocarbon coatings used the spraying process in the early days, and now mostly use roller coating and shower coating production processes. 1. Spray Coating construction method: In spray coating, the paint is atomized into fine droplets, and then sprayed onto the substrate using a spray gun. Advantages of spraying construction: 1. Provide uniform and smooth surface effect. 2. Suitable for complex shapes and irregular surfaces. 3. Faster application than some other methods. However, overspray can occur, resulting in wasted material, and ventilation and overspray control are important during spraying. 2. Roller Coating Construction Method: Roller coating involves the use of a roller (usually a cylindrical applicator) to apply paint, which spreads the paint evenly onto the substrate. Advantages of roller coating construction: 1. Suitable for flat or slightly curved surfaces. 2. Minimize overspray, thereby reducing material waste. 3. Allows for thicker coatings. But may not be suitable for complex or highly contoured surfaces. 3. Curtain Coating construction method: Curtain coating is applied by letting the paint fall on the substrate like a curtain or shower. Then drain off the excess, leaving an even coating. Advantages of shower coating construction: 1. Provide highly uniform coating. 2. Suitable for flat and contoured surfaces. 3. Minimize overspray. But a controlled environment is needed to manage the fall of the coating. The application of FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings is mainly for exterior walls and steel structures. The market demand in the exterior wall field is huge and it occupies a large market share, especially with the introduction of pre-coated boards in recent years, in-factory processing, on-site installation, and processing speed. Fast, good quality, and good decorative effect, it avoids paint film shortcomings such as coating cracking, blistering, and uneven color caused by difficult-to-control on-site construction conditions of FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings in the past. The installation forms of pre-coated boards are diversified, and they can be installed and applied with the insulation layer to integrate decoration and insulation. At present, pre-coated panels of FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings are widely used in exterior wall decorative panels of office buildings, hotels, airports, stations, schools, hospitals, high-end residential areas, etc., as well as decorative panels of subways, tunnels, etc. In terms of production and manufacturing of FEVE fluorocarbon resin coating pre-coated sheets, spray coating was used in the early days. Now most of them use roller coating and shower coating production processes, and the production efficiency has been greatly improved. In addition, the rapid development of fluorocarbon pre-coated boards has also driven the development of substrate production, coating equipment, installation and construction and other related industries. Compared with the steady growth in the two major fields of exterior walls and steel structures, FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings are used in other application fields, such as metal materials (copper, aluminum, stainless steel), plastic materials (PVC, ABS, PET), ceramics, glass and stone The market demand for inorganic material applications is also growing rapidly. Compared with traditional exterior wall and steel structure applications, FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings have special application requirements on other substrates, which are called functional FEVE fluorocarbon resin coatings.
