Commutator, is a component of electric motors (DC motors, some AC motors) that is used to commutate current and allow the motor to continue to rotate. It is one of the most important, most complex and most demanding components in the motor. . Structurally, the commutator is composed of several contact pieces arranged in a circle, which are connected to each tap on the rotor. Two electrodes called brushes are connected to the outside to contact it, and only two of them are contacted at the same time. The working principle of the commutator is that after the coil passes through the current, it will rotate through the attraction and repulsion force under the action of the permanent magnet. When it turns to balance with the magnet, the contacts on the commutator corresponding to the originally energized coil are in contact with the current. When the brushes are separated, the brushes will be connected to the contacts corresponding to the other set of coils that generate the driving force, so that the motor can continue to run through repeated repetitions.
