CO2 Capture Technology refers to the portfolio of industrial separation processes, equipment systems and process integration methods used to remove carbon dioxide from flue gas, process gas, syngas or ambient air before the CO2 is released to the atmosphere. The technology scope includes solvent absorption, physical solvent separation, solid adsorption, membrane separation, cryogenic separation, oxyfuel combustion, calcium looping, direct air capture and hybrid process configurations. Commercial systems are selected according to CO2 concentration, gas pressure, impurity profile, capture rate, energy penalty, solvent or sorbent stability, compression requirement and integration with the host industrial process. The captured CO2 is subsequently conditioned for utilization, liquefaction, pipeline transport or geological storage.
