Automotive steel pipe refers to seamless or welded steel tubing specifically engineered for use in vehicle systems as fluid-carrying, structural, or safety-critical components, manufactured from controlled-composition carbon or low-alloy steels with tight tolerances on diameter, wall thickness, cleanliness, and surface quality. These pipes are typically produced by hot rolling or extrusion followed by cold drawing, normalizing or annealing, and, where required, additional treatments such as galvanizing, aluminizing, phosphating, or polymer coatings to provide corrosion resistance and stable performance under cyclic pressure, vibration, and temperature extremes. In an automobile they are used in brake and fuel lines, hydraulic and power-steering circuits, transmission and engine oil lines, exhaust and emissions sub-assemblies, and selected chassis or suspension members, and are designed to meet relevant automotive and steel tubing standards for burst strength, fatigue life, formability, weldability, and compatibility with modern fuels and working fluids.
