This report studies the ACSR market, Aluminium conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR) is a type of high-capacity, high-strength stranded conductor typically used in overhead power lines. It is concentrically stranded conductor with one or more layers of hard drawn 1350-H19 aluminium wire on galvanized steel wire core. The core can be single wire or stranded depending on the size. Steel core wire is available in ACSR, ACSR/TW or ACSR/AW for corrosion protection. Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the completed conductor with grease. The proportion of steel and aluminium in an ACSR conductor can be selected based on the mechanical strength and current carrying capacity demanded by each application. ACSR conductors are recognized for their record of economy, dependability and favourable strength / weight ratio. ACSR conductors combine the light weight and good conductivity of aluminium with the high tensile strength and ruggedness of steel. In line design, this can provide higher tensions, less sag, and longer span lengths than obtainable with most other types of overhead conductors. All Aluminium Conductors Steel Reinforced (ACSR) consists of stranded or solid steel core enclosed by strands of aluminum. These ACSR conductors are made available in broad range of steels varying from as low as 6% to as high as 40 %. The superior strength of these conductors is ideal for overhead ground wires, river crossings, installations involving extra long span and many other applications. Manufactured using best quality materials, these conductors ensure high tensile strength. Light in weight, these ACSR conductors a higher corona limit can be acquired causing huge advantages on high as well as extra high voltage overhead lines.
Global Aluminium Conductor Steel-reinforced Cable (ACSR) key players include Nexans, Southwire Company, Apar Industries, General Cable, Hengtong Group, etc. Global top five manufacturers hold a share over 15%. China is the largest market, with a share over 55%, followed by Europe and North America, total have a share over 25 percent. In terms of product, ACSR/AW is the largest segment, with a share about 40%. And in terms of application, the largest application is Primary and secondary distribution conductor, followed by Bare overhead transmission conductor, Messenger support.
